Previewing Tonight’s Games!

Gooood afternoon.

For those wondering: Yes, we saw the Alaskas game on Tuesday; it was exciting, we’ll discuss it tomorrow morning =)

We have some interesting games ahead of us tonight, and so… Let’s talk about them.

All times pacific.

CU-PDX @ NNU @ 6:30pm

Let’s be real here: We have no expectation of this being a game. NNU is hard to play at, they’re on a super hot streak, they just got done with a thorough murdering of UAF after a heartbreaking loss in OT at UAA, and… While we don’t expect the gap to be quite as big as it was in Fairbanks on Saturday, it’ll still be large. That said… NNU is a prime potential landing spot for Dakota if he wants to stay in the GNAC, so interesting-ish match-up?

Prediction: Nighthawks win.

SPU @ SFU @ 7pm

You know… We’re 50/50 on this game. SFU either keeps it really competitive and things get nuts, or we once again see Simon Fraser players we had no idea existed because the Clan is down by so much. Either way. Honestly? Yes, we hope it happens because we’ve wanted to take another long look at Matt Kiatipis; he impressed us heavily in the first game and so getting to see him play more minutes would be great.

Prediction: Pick ’em.

SMU @ WWU @ 7pm

You’d think this would be destined to be a blow-out and yet it’s absolutely not; last time the two teams met, SMU kept it close the entire way and WWU only won by seven. Now we’re locked into the throes of the Battle for Seattle and SMU is officially out, while WWU is locked in it big time. This is honestly a critical win for the Vikings to get because they end with hosting SFU on Tuesday and then being in Billings on Thursday and so… They’ll have a game where it’s completely out of their hands. If they could go 4-0 it would be ideal and going 4-0 starts with tonight. That said: SMU will want to play the spoiler, and we’ll see if they get to.

Prediction: Pick ’em.

WOU @ CWU @ 7:30pm

We’re actually really curious about this game. CWU edged out “rival” UAF, and lost an agonizing one to UAA, so they’ll want to right the ship. WOU is a good team, no one is disputing that, but… CWU can get rocking. Really rocking. And we looked up when the Washington Music Educators Conference happened and it was last week, while Lionel Hampton isn’t until next week, and so the band should be there. We’re hoping it’s loud and we’re hoping the Wildcats have a shot. Obviously we like and believe in a lot of the WOU players, but WHAT THE HECK IS WITH THIS WILDCAT TEAM?!?!?!?! We have no idea and it both aggravates us and makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Prediction: Pick ’em.

MSUB @ UAF @ 8:30pm

This should be somewhat of a barn burner? Maybe? It could be? UAF is coming off of a thrashing by NNU and a solid beating by UAA, MSUB is coming off of a thrashing of SMU and thrashing by SPU, and so it could be competitive? Honestly with this conference you never know. MSUB killed SMU, while getting killed by SPU, meanwhile SMU kept SPU close, so… Who knows? UAF could win big, they could win close, MSUB could win big, they could win close. No way to tell. It’s in Fairbanks will can almost always get UAF the nod, but… SMU beat them up there after UAF had just beat SPU, so who knows??

Prediction: Pick ’em.

Because of some SPU logistics, we’re actually out at CWU tonight; we’ll be with the Falcons on Saturday instead, and so… We’ll see y’all in E-burg.

Be safe, have fun, go GNAC!
