Previewing Tonight’s Games!

Let’s jump right in.

All times pacific.

CU-PDX @ MSUB @ 6pm

CU-PDX just predictably got killed by WOU, while MSUB just got swept in heartbreaking fashion by the Alaska schools. We have a feeling that MSUB is going to be out for blood, and while CU-Portland improves every game, it’s not going to be enough.

Prediction: MSUB wins.

WWU @ NNU @ 6pm

Yes, it’s on the hour, the conference actually lists the time wrong. It’s been a problem this year. This will hopefully be a fiery as all heck game. WWU won an unexpectedly close one at SMU, while NNU is coming off of a sweep of the Oregon schools. The Nighthawks are going to want to keep it rolling, while the Vikings are going to want to make a stand that they are experienced and they are reliable -even in a difficult place to play like Nampa. The teams match each other pretty well in terms of style, so it should be a great game.

Prediction: Pick ’em.

SFU @ CWU @ 7pm

Once again: Yes, it’s on the hour; the conference lists it wrong. This game… Here’s the issue we have: On the one hand, CWU has been looking better. On the other hand, they have zero type of consistency. That said, SFU is the type of team that CWU could beat because the Clan is prone to being forced into bad basketball -they don’t have fundamentals to fall back on, and it was glaringly obvious as they were getting blown out by the Falcons. That said, lucky for them the Wildcats absolutely are not the Falcons, the styles should match-up pretty well, and SFU should win via consistency of their players.

Prediction: SFU wins.

SPU @ UAF @ 8:30pm

Falcons at Nanooks. It’s a big game; Fairbanks is hard to play at, the team is gelling really well, we’ve been getting all sorts of “WHY DID THE WILDCATS LET GREG SPARLING GO!??!?!?” from Wildcat fans, he had a huge section when the Nooks played at CWU. It should be a really good and really interesting game. There’s a good argument that Shadeed Shabazz is the most dynamic player in the GNAC and we’re sure Divant’e Moffitt would like to challenge him for that title. It should be a great game.

Prediction: Pick ’em.

SMU @ UAA @ 8:30pm

Anchorage is like a better version of CWU. Okay maybe not. They’re more experienced, but they’re also very inconsistent and are coming off an insanely close victory at MSUB on Saturday. They’re likely looking at this game as a good chance to get out and run, which it is, but… Another very dynamic conference player is Alex Schumacher, and while SMU has been really bad, we wouldn’t consider them out of the conference tournament just yet. They probably are, but the math is still there and if they gel, Marky Adams, Demonte Molloy, and Alex Schumacher all have the potential to make noise. That said: Tyler, Jack Mac, and Oggie OH MY.

Prediction: UAA wins.

Should be a great night of games. We’ll be following along with everything on our phone, meanwhile we’re FINALLY gonna be spending some quality time with the Clan out at CWU. Come say ‘hi.’

Be safe, have fun, go GNAC!
