Previewing This Weekend’s Games!

Hey, look, we’re back! Grad school is hard.

Conference Game Day #2 will be up later in the day, but for now let’s look at this coming weekend’s D2 games.

All times pacific:

Friday Dec. 14:

WOU @ Hilo @ 7pm

In short: Hilo isn’t good. Western Oregon is very well coached and definitely good, with the potential to be great. Hilo has a loss to NAIA Simpson. We like Simpson; they’re our grad school rival in the Cal-Pac. Go Simpson! Go Western Oregon! But yes the Wolves should win fairly easily.

Sunday Dec. 16:

Western Oregon vs. Emmanuel College @ Chaminade @ 3:15pm

Emmanuel College is a D3 school, but part of a tournament being played so we’re previewing it. WOU shouldn’t have any problems. Notable about Emmanuel’s schedule is that they played Wheaton College earlier this year -Wheaton is a peer school of Seattle Pacific and a very beloved bio professor did his undergraduate work there. Good times. Go Wolves!

Western Washington @ Chaminade @ 7:45pm

Chaminade is currently undefeated, but unfortunately their wins consist of the Alaska schools, Fresno Pacific, Oakland City (a D2 independent school that hasn’t really played anyone yet), Hawaii Hilo, Hawaii Pacific, and inevitably they’ll get a win against Holy Names today. As much as 7-0 is impressive-ish… Seriously: Look at the schools they’ve played. While Western Washington is definitely in a bit of a rebuilding  year, we’ve really liked what we’ve seen out of them, the progress we see being made, and of course Trevor Jasinsky is fantastic.

Prediction: WWU gets the win.

The Westerns are currently playing in a bracket tournament in Hawaii and so the teams they play on Monday are yet to be determined.

Here’s a picture of the bracket:

Again: The Day 2 of conference play post should be up later today/tonight and we’ll see about next week. There’s a good number of D2 games going on, but how we’re going to space them is yet to be determined.

Be safe, have fun, go GNAC!
