Previewing Today’s Games

We’re going to skip going over yesterday’s games for the time being -we’ll do that tomorrow- and just preview those of today. That said, from yesterday we were humbled and reminded that this early in the season we. know. nothing.

But let’s pretend we do anyway. No, what we’re mostly doing is giving you all of the game times in pacific time rather than the hodgepodge of times the conference website gives you.

All times pacific.

UAF vs. Northwood @ 1pm

Northwood “upset” Anchorage yesterday. On the one hand we appreciate it because we didn’t project Anchorage to be all that good. On the other hand, conference pride causes us to weep.

Prediction: Northwood wins.

NNU vs. Cal State LA @ CU-PDX @ 3pm

Gosh darn it, we thought Concordia had beaten Cal State LA. Ah well, kept it close meanwhile NNU beat San Marcos convincingly -GO NNU. With that win fresh on their feet, we have all the confidence that they’ll beat Cal State LA. Let’s go Night Hawks!!

Prediction: NNU wins.

CWU vs. Westminster @ SPU @ 3pm

This game intrigues us because the Wildcats got a solid win against Azusa yesterday and so we’re really excited. That said, both Westminster and Seattle Pacific were playing their first respective games of the year, and so we’re not sure how much we can glean against Westminster just yet. Aside from one of their players taking wayyy too many shots, we don’t really see too much wrong with Westminster’s numbers.

Prediction: Pick ’em.

CU-PDX vs. San Marcos @ 5pm

San Marcos got killed by NNU yesterday, CU-PDX suffered a close loss to Cal State LA, and what do those results mean? Who knows.

Prediction: Pick ’em.

WWU vs. Humboldt State @ 5pm

Humboldt lost to Simon Fraser by one. While we expect them to come out fired up… The best example we can give you is that SPU has an all-conference CCAA transfer from Humboldt, and he doesn’t start at SPU. Western shouldn’t have any problems.

Prediction: WWU wins.

UAA vs. Lake Superior State @ 6pm

UAA just lost unexpectedly to Northwood. Lake Superior State just beat the pants off of UAF. We’re not sure what any of that means, but…

Prediction: Lake Superior State wins.

MSUB vs. Minot State @ 6pm

MSUB just beat U of Mary and Minot State hasn’t beat anyone impressive either, so it seems like the Yellowjackets have a solid chance. Alterowitz does give them a good home court advantage, admittedly, and really: What is there to do in Billings on a Saturday night other than go to a basketball game?

Prediction: Pick ’em.

Western Oregon vs. Colorado Christian @ 7pm

We’re excited to see WOU play D2 and yet Colorado Christian went 3-19 in conference last year, so we’re not sure how much we’re going to learn from this game. Ah well, a ‘W’ is a ‘W.’

Prediction: WOU wins.

SFU vs. MN Moorhead @ 7pm

While we’re thrilled with Simon Fraser’s victory last night, even WWU struggled with Moorhead and so we don’t have as much hope for the Clan tonight. That said… We like it when we’re wrong about conference teams losing.

Prediction: MN Moorhead wins.

SPU vs. Azusa Pacific @ 7pm

We’re a little surprised with Azusa’s losing record thus far and their loss to CWU doesn’t help it. It’s causing us to think that Azusa isn’t particularly good, which has us worried that the Falcons won’t take them seriously. That said… SPU should handle the Cougars just fine, provided they stay focused.

Prediction: SPU wins.

As always: tweet at us, and then the results of yesterday may go up later tonight; we’ll be at the Husky football game a majority of the day, but we’ll be following along with everything per usual. Nice dispersal of games throughout the day, so should be good.
