Previewing Tonight’s Games

Yup, we’re still doing it, just being a little bit lazy. Doldrums of the college season + NBA trade deadline chaos = lack of productivity.

That said… Let’s preview some GNAC basketball! Woo-hoo!

All times pacific.

MSUB @ WWU @ 7pm

We had a dream that MSUB blew out WWU. We have no idea how accurate the dream was, but… if it happens, we’ll be shocked. On the one hand we’re like “well, it could happen,” but on the other hand we’re like “seriously!? That’s not happening.” But just incase…

Prediction: Pick ’em.

SMU @ CU-PDX @ 7:30pm

SMU should take care of business. Concordia is still looking to get a win. We think their odds are better against SPU than against SMU. SMU just needs to remember to take this game seriously, because the thing about Concordia is they have talented players, they just can’t seem to make those players work well together.

Prediction: SMU wins.

SPU @ WOU @ 7:30pm

You know that scene in The Princess Bride where they’re sitting there with the poisoned drinks and Vizzini is logic-ing himself in a circle? That’s how we feel about this game. SPU can’t win at WOU. Doesn’t matter how bad the Wolves are or how good the Falcons are, it’s just one of those quirks. And now the Wolves have the best coach and the best player in the conference (with admittedly mediocrity aside from that) but SPU is still arguably the most talented team, and so… You get a circle that also goes “But SPU can’t win, this isn’t the year they’ll do it, maybe next year, but not this year,” “But you need to expect the unexpected.” And so we feel like an idiot with what we’re about to write, but… WWU beat UAF at UAF, and thus:

Prediction: Pick ’em.

CWU @ UAF @ 8pm

This should be interesting because CWU has more talent but UAF has shown some really good teamwork. Mix that with the Nooks home court advantage and literally no result would surprise us. CWU could win big, UAF could win big; UAF could win close, CWU could win close. There’s just no telling.

Prediction: Pick ’em.

NNU @ UAA @ 8pm

Another super interesting game because UAA has been gaining ground and we’re super pleased with the Seawolves development throughout the season, while NNU if anything has regressed throughout the season. Admittedly NNU’s regression this year is still better than they’ve ever really been consistently in years past, so it makes games consistently interesting. We think the game’ll probably be close, but have no inclination as to who gets out of it with the ‘W.’

Prediction: Pick ’em.

We’re excited. Should be a good night of hoops. Tweet at us!
