Player-of-the-Week Nominations

Yikes. More spots available for donation than players that played well enough to give the donations to. That’s how bad this week of conference play was.

UAF: Travante Williams -came close to a Triple Double against CWU, had a double-double against NNU.
UAA: Corey Hammell -dominant against NNU with 17 boards and 17 points on nearly perfect shooting, went 11-11 on FTs and grabbed 13 boards against CWU in just 22 minutes.
SFU: N/A –> Donated to Diante Mitchell of UAA; two great shooting nights + assisting against NNU.
WWU: Kyle Impero -he’s 165lbs, gets boards like whoa, and this week was no exception.
SPU: Bryce Leavitt -very efficient against SFU, did good things against WWU including five boards and six assists.
SMU: N/A –> Donated to Suki Wiggs of UAA; acted like Suki. Ridiculous rebounding, assisting, and free-throw making.
MSUB: N/A –> Donated to Mitch Penner of SPU -decent game against SFU, good game against WWU with five boards, five assists, and 17 points.
CWU: N/A
NNU: N/A
CU-PDX: N/A
WOU: Andy Avgi -two good games. Reminded us all that he’s a small forward and not a center with his three point shooting.

Remember: It’s not that we don’t want to hand out these nominations -it’s that we want them to mean something when they do get handed out. We have a level that has to be surpassed in order to get the nomination. It means that if a guy gets it, he truly played two good games (or one supercalifragilisticexpealidociously amazing game, and one okay game).

So that’s where we’re at. We don’t hate anyone or any team, we just value and believe in our GNAC men’s basketball players enough that we’re not going to hand out a participation award.

POW’ll be up in an hour.

    Hello,

How could you leave off Diante Mitchell from UAA of your list. He had 17 pts and 6 ast and 3-4 from 3pt against CWU then had 24pts 5 ast and again 3-4 from3 against NNU. Solid stats for a “backup player” with McGill out.
